Promoting South-South Cooperation in Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism

Programme Description

UNOCT promotes South-South Cooperation in countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism (CT/PVE) as a dynamic modality of international cooperation especially since its scale, scope and the number of actors has expanded. UNOCT implemented, in that context,  a global project aimed to promote and strengthen the exchange of expertise in the field of CT/PVE between experts from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean and to enhance capacities to design and implement related policies and mechanisms.  The project also helped build new partnerships, strengthen institutional and technical capacities, respond to the specific challenges of developing countries in CT/ PVE and enhance cooperation.

The e-learning modules on South-South Cooperation in CT/PVE are part of this undertaking.

Programme Objectives

  • Strengthening the capacity of experts from interested Member States to design and implement policies, frameworks and CT/PVE related mechanisms, based on lessons learned, good practices and strategies from other developing countries.
  • Improving CT/PVE related exchanges between experts from different regions.
  • Enhancing information and access to CT/PVE expertise available in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean.
